Democracy is on the line. A Tyrant has risen up and seeks to achieve absolute power. And the medical profession finds itself precisely in the center of the struggle to see which way America will go- down into Tyranny, or back upwards with a restored Democracy?

Tim Snyder's Fifth Lesson in On Tyranny is to "Respect Professional Ethics." He observes in every Tyranny, the question of whether the professionals will stand by their core missions or betray them to the Tyrant is often crucial in determining if Democracy survives. As physicians, we now are called on to join together to let our community we stand on the side of Freedom.

The nation sees the question of health care as one of its most urgent issues. DOHCS played a substantive role in passing the ACA, the Congressman who cast one of the crucial votes has gone public in crediting us with helping insure now over 45 million Americans. All that is on the line, right now, as 24 million Americans face loss of insurance through premium explosions, and another 16 million face such loss through Medicaid cuts.

DOHCS offers all physicians in our community the chance to join together to do our part to preserve health care, restore Democracy, to act in our specific role as doctors to secure American Freedom.
